I'm Doula Pe Numa Malivert, you can call me Pe. Here, you'll find a wordy wealth of detailed information designed to guide and support you on your journey - further leaning into that "ouuu, YES" or standing tall on that "hell NAHH". If you're short on time or prefer quick answers, feel free to jump to the FAQs. Otherwise, hurry slowly as you explore each page, and soak in all the knowledge. Should any questions arise, I’m always happy to help - don't hesitate to drop a line or vent your entire life to me HERE, the choice is yours - no judgement either way! ;)

Mama moments in the matrix

MARABOU'S philosophy

Benchmarks for birth are often ingrained in survival based or superficial criteria where women become dependent and passively await interventions to be offered. This becomes a birth that happens TO you, rather than gaining clarity on and pursuing the birth FOR you.

Marabou Mama is committed to intentional and unwavering support before, during, and after the birth of your babe. My Haitian roots are essential to the rhythm of my mission, providing grounding relief while nurturing your experience, from the inside (psychologically), out (physiologically).

My responsibility is to assure mama gains clarity around her desires, rights, and options by guiding her to comfort in her experience through education, empowerment, and encouragement - mind, body, and SOUL!

Dive deeper into my mission here.

not your ‘medulla oblongata’

..but the more tangible manifestation of some of those same functions like regulating breathing and looking after the heart. Doula, by Greek definition, is a servant of support to women.

With Marabou Mama by your side,

you will learn to:

  • endure labor with grace
  • retrain your brain
  • shift your birth perspectives
  • navigate your sentiments
  • feel confident in your informed awareness
  • communicate your needs for support

Let's get REAL: hiring a doula is beautiful, yet NOT a substitute for educating yourself and your support.

My scope of care doesn't include clinical work, though I am knowledgeable about the medical attributes of birth and the choices available to you.

I am a source of well-researched information, with the goal of helping you fill in some knowledge gaps.

This makes ME a support professional,

and part of YOUR care team.

how do you doula?

Hiring a doula has proven to:

• reduce the rate of induction

or emergency caesareans

• reduce labor duration and interventions

• reduce desires for synthetic oxytocin

or pain medication to augment labor

• reduce use of vacuum or forceps at birth

• increase parental satisfaction with birth experience

and likelihood of breastfeeding appropriately and successfully

IN BIRTH, I MAY SWOOP IN AND:

 · curate a vibe to receive your child,

built from foot notes of your birth desires

· remind you to advocate for yourself

and uphold your rights

· make practical and affirming suggestions

· physical, emotional, spiritual, and/or sensory

comfort measures such as breathing techniques,

counter pressure, and shifting positions

· present childbirth education and information

on the options you have available

· teach you to navigate intensity and

release attachment to your birth outcome

· offer affirming reassurance and encouragement

· hold space with an intentional and non-judgmental active listening ear

POSTPARTUM, YOU'LL LIKELY SEE ME:

· keep mama hydrated and guarantee she eats adequate

nourishing meals (especially if nursing)

· look after baby so that parents can have

a moment for rest or self-care

· Traditional Haitian Postpartum Care

· belly binding or baby wearing instruction

· light housekeeping within reason

(light pickup, wipe down, simple organization etc.)

· hold space with an intentional and

non-judgmental listening ear

· provide validation for any anxieties, concerns,

or emotions associated with birth

· assist with shaping perspective

and navigating the feels

· deliver support information, contacts,

referrals and resources as necessary

"Finding a doula I could trust was a top priority for my birth. I booked a consult with Pè and there was an instant connection over the phone. She remembered small things like my anniversary, which showed me she was invested in me as a person and not just a client during this season of my life. Pè was supportive and checked in on me throughout my pregnancy and answered my questions as they came up. When labor began she was the first of my care team to arrive.

She coached me through effective breathing and my husband through techniques they could use to help ease my discomfort. Pè rocked it! My home birth would not have been the same without her energy, her methods, and her attention. I will forever be grateful for the relationship we’ve built and how invested she was in bringing my son into the world. If you’re considering if you need a doula, the answer is, you won’t regret having one. If the next question is if you should hire Pè, the answer is absolutely, yes."

"Words cannot describe how grateful I am to have had Perissa as my doula for my second pregnancy, birth, and postpartum. Her calming reassurance, gentle reminders (stay hydrated, practice the stretches and breathing she taught me), culture, and knowledge shared (and instilled) from beginning to end made such a positive impact and difference. I won't share all the secrets, but hot damn they (and SHE) is worth every penny!

And the postpartum support and services were a gamechanger for me - the bain fey, conscious caress, bounty balm, placenta encapsulation, breastfeeding and overall support. Girl, thank you x infinity. You deserve all the flowers...and tacos. What makes Pe different is that she is emotionally invested in you, your baby, and your birth experience (wherever it happens) in a way that is difficult to understand until you have experienced it. She was meant to do this work... don't get me started on the tea and herb remedies!"

"For real though. God has put the right people in my path. You may have felt you weren't doing anything that day we called you in and thought you were coming in early but like I said, you really helped us and especially me because I didn't feel alone and the way I felt what was going on, looking at you and your face made me feel right where I was supposed to be and how I was supposed to feel. It was f***ing crazy."

"If you have never felt how it feels to have someone there in your moment of need, I can assure you Pe will do it. Pe and I meeting up was completely noted in the stars. It was destined. She is super dope and we shared a lot of experiences of our past and present. Although we connected in such a short amount of time (the last 4 weeks of pregnancy), her transparency and good energy is what I gravitated toward most. I wasn't even expecting to have a doula during my pregnancy which is crazy because she was an integral part of my labor and delivery.

I love her authenticity and her attitude is always positive. She never sugar coated anything, she gave me the truth whether I asked for it or not. She came over and we made a belly cast which was fun. If I had any questions or concerns about anything, I knew that she would have an answer for me. If you're hesitant about having a doula, don't. I definitely recommend doula-ing with Pe, she has given me an experience and advice that I will remember for life. I appreciate her greatly."
